The other week the girls and I had a little “stay”cation for their spring break. A friend of mine recommended checking out the Burnside Farms for their annual tulip picking! It was absolutely gorgeous. There were rows of colorful flowers, baskets for picking and tables for pruning. Ali and Em especially loved the playgrounds and bounce houses that were set up for children. It was a great day trip (a little far, but worth it!) and it got me thinking about all the different activities that we don’t want to miss this spring! So, without further ado, here is our can’t miss daytime activities for this spring!
Looking for something fun to do with your family now that we have spring weather!? Here are some of our favorite daytime activities that you don’t want to miss this spring!
- Tulip Picking at Burnside Farms – “Holland in Haymarket” | Don’t have enough spare time or cash to make it to Amsterdam this year? Burnside Farms in Haymarket boasts fields of beautiful tulips. Hand pick your own or let the little ones play in the bounce houses.
- Burke Lake Train and Carousel | Head out to Burke Lake for a hike with your little ones by the lake. Cool off with some ice cream and take a ride on the train or carousel. Be sure to check the schedule for the current operating hours.
- Bluebell Trail at Bull Run | Catch a glimpse of the Bluebells at Bull Run. A great way to enjoy the outdoor – but leave the stroller at home for this one.
- Strawberry picking at Wegmeyer’s | Starting this May, pick your own fresh strawberries at the Wegmeyer Farm. Absolutely delicious and fun for kids and adults.
